Remembering Tigers is the ninth book in the celebrated Remembering Wildlife fundraising series, which has so far raised more than £1.28m GBP / $1.66m USD for conservation projects since it began in 2016. The aim of the creators is to make the most beautiful book ever seen on a species and to use that to raise awareness of the plight facing that animal and also funds to protect it. Each book is full of images generously donated by many of the world’s top wildlife photographers, with 75 contributing this year.

The magnificent tiger once roamed Asia in its hundreds of thousands, the most awesome apex predator and largest wild cat of them all. Both feared and revered, they were systematically eradicated from much of that range by both loss of habitat and also by relentless hunting. Killed for their pelts and body parts, for trophies and trade and also because of fear of attack.

Nowadays, hunting of tigers for sport is no longer legal in the wild but criminal poaching remains a serious threat. And like many of the other species featured in the Remembering Wildlife series, conflict with humans is increasing too. The need for solutions to mitigate that against an ever-growing human population, is particularly pressing.

In many ways, tiger conservation in recent years can be applauded as a success story, with numbers thankfully ticking up to around 5,500. But successes are uneven, with some tiger populations being lost entirely in the last ten years. So now is not time for complacency.

With this book, we hope to shine a light on the challenges that still remain, in the hope that the fight for their conservation is never relaxed. We are supported once again by many of the world’s top wildlife photographers, who have generously donated their images to this book. From snowy forests in Siberia to humid swamps in India, we showcase the variety of their habitats and the stunning beauty of tigers on these pages. And as we explain, it is not just a moral imperative that these tigers are saved, it is an ecological one too. By preserving their presence in the wild, we are saving ourselves.

Remembering Tigers won Bronze in the Photography Category at the 2025 Independent Publisher Book Awards (IPPY Awards).
